About the book
The
Legend of Sappy is a new classic Christmas story that shows it pays
to dream BIG. The story is set on a Christmas tree farm in the countryside
where families come to cut down their tree every year. Inside the barn, lived a
loveable family of cats – Grandpa Lennon and four kittens – Zoey, Walter, Gia,
and Frankie. Grandpa told the kittens how Sappy, a
tree who drooled a little too much when he became excited, lived on the farm
for nearly a century because no family ever chose him. Though the other trees
on the farm mocked Sappy for not being picked, he never gave up hope and
followed his dream to become a very famous Christmas tree in the end.
The
Legend of Sappy is a fun way to teach children that having patience and believing in themselves can pay off BIG in the end.
About the author
This
is Michael Danis’ first book. The story was inspired by a visit to a tree farm,
where Michael and his wife, Michel were deciding on a Christmas tree. Their
quest for the perfect tree gave way to comical critiques of the available
trees. This led Michael to wonder,imagine if these trees could hear our
comments. The rest of the story pulls from their recent relocation from New
York to Maryland, Michel’s experience as a third grade teacher and their
family’s pet cats’ personalities.

Trees for Troops, a program of the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, provides free, farm-grown Christmas Trees to United States armed forces members in all branches of the military and their families, through donations, sponsorships, grants and the work of many volunteers.
